In season two, Detective Cormack (Fimmel) tackles two separate missing persons cases. One is professional, as he investigates the disappearance of Zoe Jacobs (McKinnon), who disappeared from her own 21st birthday party in 2003. The other is personal, as Cormack searches desperately for his own younger brother, who went missing when they were children.

Director Sian Davies (The Gloaming), executive producer Rosemary Blight (The Invisible Man), and series creator Lucas Taylor (Harrow) return for season two, with Helena Brooks (Population 11) joining as a director. Season one lead actor Talijah Blackman-Corowa joins the second season as director’s attachment.

Goalpost Pictures makes the show. The new season is produced in association with All3Media International, which shops the show, and Sundance Now and with financial support from Screen Queensland, Screen NSW and City of Gold Coast. Exec producers for Stan are Cailah Scobie and Amanda Duthie.

Back in July 2022, we were first with news of the series, which at the time was planned as a limited series. The AACTA- and Logie-nominated show ran on Stan in Australia, AMC Networks streamer Sundance Now in the U.S. and the BBC in the UK. A second season was ordered as part of Stan’s latest slate, which we revealed last month.

“Following the enormous success of the first season of Black Snow we are thrilled to be working with the team at Goalpost Pictures and the incredible cast, led by Travis, on another gripping season,” said Stan Chief Creative Officer Scobie.

The reorder marks the latest example of a high-profile Australian scripted series, with the likes of Stan and Binge attracting major on- and off-screen talent to well-funded productions.

“Australian film and television has never been stronger,” said Fimmel. “Now, with the addition of streaming networks and their reach, I’m so proud that our local productions and their hard work can be recognised not only here, but around the world. I’m excited to be a part of another season of Black Snow and showing off what Australians have to offer. That, and I’m happy to have free food and a job.”

Goalpost’s Blight added: “The audience response in Australia and around the world to series one was incredible and we can’t wait to bring this new story with this wonderful group of actors to the screen — including Travis Fimmel who is once again utterly compelling in the role of Cormack.”

Fimmel is repped by Paradigm, Entertainment 360 and Sloan, Offer. McKinnon is repped by Independent Talent Group, Players Agentur Management and United Management.
