Let's All Remember Jan Hooks by Watching Her Wonderful 'Pee-wee's Big Adventure' Scene

Saturday Night Live alum Jan Hooks, who died today at the age of 57, starred in just a handful of films during her decades-long acting career. Yet she still managed to find herself in one of the most beloved comedies of the 1980s: Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, in which she played Tina, a gum-chewing, fact-dispensing tour guide at the Alamo. Though she was barely onscreen for more than two minutes, Hooks’s airtight timing and chipper delivery helped launched countless catchphrases (“Can you say, ‘Adobe’?”). Thanks to her, we’ll never have to wonder about whether there’s a basement in the Alamo.
