Jamila Woods will support her upcoming album Water Made Us with a newly announced 2024 tour. Along with the news, Woods has shared one final look at the record, the Saba-featuring track “Practice.”
The Chicago singer’s 2024 tour begins February 1st in Seattle. From there, she’ll travel down the West Coast for shows in Portland, San Fransisco, and Los Angeles before heading east, hitting Phoenix, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, DC, Philly, and more. The North American trek wraps up February 23rd in Woods’ hometown before a brief UK/Europe tour begins in April.
Tickets to Woods’ upcoming shows go on sale Friday, October 13th via Ticketmaster.
Produced by McClenney, who described the track as a “puzzle piece” Woods spent a lot of time perfecting, “Practice” finds the soul singer attempting to let go of the idea that every new relationship must be the relationship.
“‘Practice is a song I made with Mcclenney about releasing the pressure we put on ourselves in relationships. I was trying to shift how I often evaluate relationships based on their potential for longevity rather than on how I feel in the moment,” Woods revealed. “The song is about how we can learn to just enjoy ourselves and be present with someone without needing to ‘get everything right’ or ‘have everything together.’ My friend Carlos López Estrada came up with this concept of creating faces with bodies in a way that’s sensual and silly at the same time. The whole process was very playful and experimental, which suits the song perfectly.”
Water Made Us is out in full October 13th, and pre-orders are ongoing. So far, Woods has previewed the LP with the tracks “Boomerang” and “Tiny Garden.”
