Jamie Lynn Spears Claps Back at Britney Speculation Amid #FreeBritney Movement
Jamie Lynn Spears isn’t happy with all the conjecture surrounding her big sister, Britney Spears, and she’s making as much crystal clear. Amid the growing rumors about Britney’s current stay in a wellness facility and the subsequent #FreeBritney movement spawned on social media, Jamie Lynn is coming to her sister’s defense. And in doing so, she just sent a very clear message to fans (and everyone else) that she loves her sister — and that people shouldn’t run their mouths about things they “don’t understand.”
Jamie Lynn took to Instagram early on Tuesday, April 23, to share a video clip of the pair shot a decade ago. In the clip, the sisters struggle to push through a crowd of paparazzi, while various people shout things in Britney’s direction. When an apparent local screams to Britney that they don’t want her in the neighborhood, Jamie Lynn is quick to interject, “Well then move the f*** out.” The younger sibling has clearly always been protective of Brit, which seems to be the sentiment she wants to relay by re-sharing the clip now.

Damn, y’all. Jamie Lynn is coming in hot! But, really, can you blame her? Part of being a celebrity is enduring an endless stream of unsolicited opinions from the public. However, as Jamie Lynn points out, the people making these comments about Britney haven’t been by Britney’s side throughout her journey with bipolar disorder. Mental health is obviously a very personal matter and one that sometimes requires difficult decisions. The implication that her family isn’t doing enough to “save” Britney is unfair.
Britney’s fans were likely well-meaning in starting the #FreeBritney movement after news broke that Britney had checked into a wellness facility earlier this month. While sources claim the decision was made due to stress Britney has been under from the poor health of her father, Jamie, fans didn’t buy it. Playing internet detective, they deduced from her postponed album, the delay of her Las Vegas residency and the mental health facility stay that she must have been stripped of her autonomy. An explosive episode of the Britney’s Gram podcast, hosted by comedians Tess Barker and Barbara Gray, seemed to give credibility to this theory by way of a “verified” source claiming Jamie (under his rights as Britney’s conservator) had cancelled the residency and forced Britney into the facility.
But Britney has been seen out and about — getting her hair done, going to dinner with her boyfriend, Sam Asghari — and she doesn’t appear to be a woman devoid of free will. Regardless, Jamie Lynn’s Instagram post serves as an excellent reminder that she has a family who loves her and, more pointedly, understands her more than any outsider could. Judging by the clip, Jamie Lynn doesn’t exactly look like the kind of sister who’d sit idly by and let her big sis be abused in any way. Fans will simply have to trust that the people who know Britney best have her best interest at heart.
