Jamie Foxx To Star In, Produce Animated ‘Groove Tails’

Jamie Foxx has signed on as the voice of the lead character in Groove Tails, a new CGI animated family movie on which he will also serve as co-producer. The story, set in the world of competitive street dancing competitions, but for mice, follows “Biggz”, a mouse deep in debt to a local club hoping to clean up the streets from a group of menacing alley cats, and get the girl.

An AMBI Group presentation of an AMBI and Imprint Entertainment production, animation and production for Groove Tails is being handled by AMBI’s AIC Studios in Toronto. AMBI Distribution is overseeing worldwide distribution. Groove Tails is AMBI’s third animated feature in the last year, following the currently in-production Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad, starring Alec Baldwin, John Cleese, James Franco, Anjelica Huston, Heidi Klum and Omar Sy, and East End from writers and co-directors Federico Moccia, Giuseppe Squillaci and Luca Scanferla.

Foxx is producing along with Michael Becker of Imprint Entertainment and AMBI principals Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi. It will be directed by Oscar-winning animator Cameron Hood, who previously worked on The Prince of Egypt, Kung Fu Panda 2, Megamind, Despicable Me 2, and Minions. Groove Tails will be Hood’s animation feature debut. The script is by Johnny Mack (Real Husbands of Hollywood), who also executive produces.

Foxx was most recently seen in the remake of Annie and will next appear in Sleepless Night, due in theaters in 2016. The Oscar and Grammy winner is repped by CAA, LBI Entertainment, and Del, Shaw, Moonves, Tanaka, Finkelstein & Lezcan. Johnny Mack is repped by Imprint Entertainment. Hood is repped by Vox.
