Jamie Foxx is sharing gratitude on his 56th birthday.

The actor marked the milestone on Instagram Wednesday, reflecting on his April medical emergency and his recovery journey, especially the support he got from family and fans.

"This birthday is a special one," Foxx wrote. "I wanna start by saying thank you to everyone that prayed for me when I was in a bad way ... here lately I’ve been able to thank some of you personally but I want to say to all of you. I NEEDED EVERY PRAYER ... you lifted me through ... I was able to make it to today because of your prayers."

"I consider all of you my family... and thank you to my immediate family, and everybody who chipped in to make sure that I could celebrate on this day," the Oscar winner added. "I’m sending our complete joy to everybody ... Cause if it’s my birthday it’s your birthday."

Foxx spoke out about his health scare three months after it occurred, sharing a clip of himself on Instagram thanking fans for their prayers as he recovered from the medical complication that happened April 11 while he was in Atlanta filming the movie Back in Action.

"I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back," he said of his fans' support. "I went through something I thought I would never ever go through."

The actor said his sister Deidra Dixon and his daughter Corinne Foxx "saved my life," and also thanked God and the "great medical people" who treated him.

"I cannot tell you how great it feels to have your family kick in in such a way — and y'all know they kept it airtight, they didn't let nothin' out. They protected me," Foxx said at the time. "And that's what I hope everyone could have in the moments like these."
