Nick Cannon is giving a health update about his friend Jamie Foxx, who is recovering from a medical complication.

The TV host, 42, told Entertainment Tonight in an interview published Sunday that Foxx, 55, is "alert" after his daughter Corinne announced on Instagram earlier this month that he "experienced a medical complication."

Cannon did not offer any details about the medical complication.

"Man, I'm praying," Cannon said. "I literally have been saying prayers out loud. Words of affirmation for my big brother. I know he's doing so much better, because I'm actually about to do something special for him and doing him a favor. I can't really say what it is, but it'll be out there soon."

Cannon added: "He's awake. They say he's alert, so we love it. That's family right there."

In the statement posted on Corinne's Instagram, the Foxx family revealed the actor "experienced a medical complication" and is recovering.

"Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery," the statement read. "We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time."
