James Van Der Beek 'Couldn't Be More Proud' of Son Joshua as He Celebrates His 12th Birthday

The actor shares his six kids with wife Kimberly

James Van Der Beek is celebrating a special day in his household.

On Wednesday, the actor, 47, shared a Reel on his Instagram in celebration of son Joshua's 12th birthday. Posting photos from the past few years, the father-son duo smiles and plays together in the sweet video.

"12 years old today. You make me laugh, you make me think, you make me a better person. Wise beyond your years and yet an eternally playful spirit… You are kind, fair, thoughtful, and your take on the world always adds a new dimension I never would have recognized on my own," Van Der Beek wrote in his caption.

"I cherish our adventures, your questions, and even the highly questionable 'facts' you’re so fond of dispensing ❤️ I love your sense of humor, your high weirdness, and every minute I get to spend as your dad," he continued.

"Thanks for being you, bud. Don’t ever change for anyone but yourself. I love you and couldn’t be more proud of you."

Van Der Beek shares his six kids — daughters Olivia, 13, Joshua, Annabel, 10, Emilia, 7, Gwendolyn, 5, and Jeremiah, 2 — with wife Kimberly.

Last week, the star's wife wrote a lengthy tribute to her husband on his birthday, praising him for being such an "incredible example" for their kids.

Posting pictures of her husband with all of their kids, Kimberly took a moment to honor James in the caption.

"@vanderjames HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It is so appropriate that your birthday is on International Women’s Day because you are such a beautiful place for our little ladies to explore what it is to be fully expressed in their authentic selves," she wrote.

"You are an incredible example for our sons. This year particularly, you have exemplified grace, bravery, vulnerability, authenticity and alchemy with your heart and divine essence as the guide post."

"Wishing you magic, abundant health, unfolding your dreams and divine path alignment. I love you. And to our friends, THANK YOU for the way you’ve shown up for this monumentally glorious human this year," Kimberly concluded her post.
