James Gunn Kills Rumor Involving Henry Cavill’s DCU Future
Last night, DC Studios Co-CEO James Gunn jumped on Twitter to debunk the most recent Henry Cavill DC casting rumor.
The rumor being referred to claimed that former Superman actor Henry Cavill was approached to play Frankenstein in the upcoming Creature Commandos series. When asked about how true the rumor was, Gunn was quick to shut it down, stating it’s “completely false” and that DC already has the actor for Frankenstein set.
Completely false. We have our Frankenstein – our first choice – & it’s not Henry. Was never discussed with him. #CreatureCommandos https://t.co/2zYJbIFDBq

Another Twitter user suggested that Gunn’s response came off as “hate towards Cavill.” The director responded by saying that the rumor was all over various news sites and he was just answering the question asked of him. He then explained that DC has discussed other roles with Cavill — just not that of Frankenstein.
Its on various news sites & I was asked about it. You might consider that this bile you think comes off in my post has more to do with your framing than what I’m actually saying. I’ve said in the past we’ve discussed other roles with Henry – just Frankenstein is not one of them.

The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
