James Degus Leaves UTA to Run Bryan Cranston’s Production Company

TV lit agent James Degus is parting ways with UTA after 19 years to run Bryan Cranston’s shingle Moon Shot Entertainment.

Moon Shot already has a two-year first-look deal in place at Sony TV, the studio behind Cranston’s AMC drama “Breaking Bad.” Degus will serve as prez at the production company and spearhead development and production efforts.

Jay Sures, UTA’s managing director, said, “James is a great guy, a great agent and has been an integral part for UTA for many years. We’re sad he’s leaving but truly excited for him at this opportunity to join Bryan in building something special.”

Degus was tapped as an agent at UTA in 1997 after logging years in the mail room and as an assistant. His clients will remain at UTA.
