Before becoming a star across the pond, James Corden rose to fame on ITV drama Fat Friends. Now, his former co-star Lisa Riley has shared a throwback snap of the two of them as she's reflected on the happy times they spent making the programme.

In the photograph posted to Instagram the fresh-faced pair smile at the camera, with Riley noting they had "changed so much" since.

The 43-year-old captioned the post: "Lovely trip down memory lane today “double-trouble”) here (more photos I’ve found) me and @j_corden having the best five years of fun filming @itv “FAT FRIENDS” both of us have changed so much since these days...but it’s so nice for us both to smile and remember what a bloody ball we had each and every day!!"

The Kay Mellor drama originally aired on ITV between 2000 to 2005, focusing on the lives of members of a slimming group, where Corden, 41, played Jamie Rymer and Riley starred as Rebecca Patterson.

Fat Friends saw Corden star alongside several future Gavin and Stacey cast members as Alison Steadman and Ruth Jones were also part of the programme before going on to play Pam Shipman and Nessa Jenkins in the hit sitcom.

Sheridan Smith, who appeared in a two episodes of the ITV show, also went on to appear as Ruth "Rudi" Smith in Gavin and Stacey.

Corden has recently opened up about the problems he faced with fat-shaming as a young actor.

Prior to landing his part in Fat Friends, he had appeared in Hollyoaks as a care taker but when he filmed the part he was disappointed to learn his character's room would be adorned with posters of junk food and demanded they be taken down.
