Jameela Jamil Just Revealed That a Man Punched Her in the Face for Rejecting Him When She Was 19
Jameela Jamil just revealed on Twitter that she was punched in the face at age 19 for rejecting a man's advances.
Over 1,000 people have replied to the thread, many sharing their own stories of similar situations.
Every girl has probably had a situation where she rejected someone's advances and they reacted poorly in response. Jameela Jamil just shared a story on Twitter of how serious those situations can get.
She started by talking about a recent incident in which a guy didn't take her rejection well.
"Was out at the shops with my friend. Man ogles me. Man then approaches me to give me his number. I explain I have a boyfriend but thank him for the offer. Man then threatens my career, saying I better remember that I rejected him. And then Shouts at me that I’m low class... 🤷🏽♀️" she wrote.
Someone pointed out how gross it was that she had to say she had a boyfriend, even though that didn't even stop him. Then, people started to reply to that thread, so she started a new one where she shared a story of a different time when she was younger.
"I once said no thank you to man when I was 19 and didn’t have an excuse... and he punched me in the face. After that whether or not I have a boyfriend, I say I do. Being a woman is truly, constantly scary. It’s like existing on thin ice."
She finished the conversation by writing, "We need to teach children about rejection, so that we can change the way we see rejection as a society. We need to de stigmatize it, so that it doesn’t feel like the ground is swallowing you up when someone says no, however nicely. This would lessen their need to lash out."
