'He is my biggest fan and yet my biggest critic,' the New York Knicks point guard tells PEOPLE

Jalen Brunson remembers the best advice his father Rick ever gave him: "You work too hard not to be confident in yourself."

If there was ever a time for the New York Knicks star point guard, 27, to embrace his self confidence, it's now — as he and his team continue to power through the NBA playoffs. And if there was ever a time to celebrate his dad, it's Father's Day.

Luckily, Brooks Brothers has Jalen and Rick teaming up just in time for the annual celebration of dads, as they joined forces for a Father’s Day campaign featuring a series of black-and-white portraits alongside other families — including those of cookbook author Tyler Florence and actor-director Bryan Greenberg.

"Teaming up with Brooks Brothers on this campaign has been great. The environment with Brooks Brothers is so free flowing and comfortable, so it was easy for me and my dad to be ourselves and enjoy the moment together," Brunson tells PEOPLE of the campaign, which features the tag Celebrating Dads Since 1818.

"He is my biggest fan and yet my biggest critic," Brunson adds. "Our bond on and off the court as father and son is something I will always cherish."

In the classic black-and-white portraits, the Brunsons are seen laughing together in sharp suits from Brooks Brothers (though styled very differently). But it's no surprised they pull off the suiting so well: The NBA star grew up watching his dad rock a suit, and tried to to emulate it himself as a child.

"When he used to coach, he always would lay out his suit and shoes the night before a game," Brunson reveals. "That was incorporated into his nightly routine when preparing for a game. My mom even has memories of me dressing up in suit-like clothes and pretend I was heading to my own game as a young kid."

"When I wear a perfectly tailored suit it makes me feel sharp and confident in my skin," he adds.

But even with their mutual affinity for dressing up, the Brunsons typically share one priority when it comes to their clothes.

"My style is only similar to my Dad's in one way. We both like to be dressed comfortable," he says. "Even though we both dress comfortably we are still very different. The biggest difference in our style is that I like to incorporate color from time to time whereas my Dad only sticks to the color gray."

Other images from the campaign also touch on that unique bond that a father shares with their kids, as Florence, 53, opted to pose with his younger children Hayden, 16, and Dorothy, 15, whom he shares with wife Tolan Clark.

The trio smile together in the pics, and even laugh as they struggle to get Hayden's bow tie on just right.

Greenberg also decided to pose with one of his little ones for the campaign, as the Junction actor, 45, shares 2-and-a-half-year-old twins with actress Jamie Chung.

"Honored to a part of @BrooksBrothers Father’s Day campaign," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "Apologies to my other son who wasn’t photographed. He’ll have to work that out in therapy in a couple of years."

Keep up with Brooks Brothers for the more on its Father's Day campaign, which last year featured Succession star Nicholas Braun.
