Most Treasure Coast residents know who Jake Owen is.

From his annual Christmas benefit concerts in Vero Beach to spotting him around the Treasure Coast, Owen is a local household name. Recently, Owen filmed a music video at Little Jim Bait & Tackle for his song "On the Boat Again" off his latest album, "Loose Cannon."

Owen has been a part of the music industry for nearly two decades, making a name for himself with hit songs such as "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" and "Down To The Honkytonk".

Where are Jake Owen's roots?

Joshua Ryan Owen and Jarrod Owen, his fraternal twin, were born Aug. 28, 1981, in Winter Haven. When he broke into the music industry, he began to go by Jake.

At 3 years old, his parents moved him and Jarrod to Vero Beach, where he grew up and attended Gifford Middle School and Vero Beach High School. During his time in high school, Owen developed a passion for golf, hoping to one day play professionally.

When did Jake Owen begin making music?

After a wakeboarding accident as a Florida State University freshman in 2000, his professional golfing dreams were shelved.

"I had an accident, hurt my shoulder (and) had shoulder surgery and my dad said, 'Get a job'," Owen told NBC Sports on May 29. "So I grabbed a guitar and started playing on a barstool up at college and it kind of went from there."

In 2006, he signed with RCA Nashville, where he released his first album, "Startin' With Me," the same year.

Where does Jake Owen live?

Owen's permanent residence is no longer on the Treasure Coast. He lives on a 150-acre property in Nashville, the country music capital.

What is the Jake Owen Foundation?

The Jake Owen Foundation was founded in 2010 to provide financial assistance on a national level to children battling cancer and other childhood diseases through the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. The foundation also provides assistance to various youth organizations in Indian River County.

In December 2022, Owen held his annual Jake Owen Foundation weekend, which was highlighted by an intimate show, “The Flamingo Jam,” at the Vero Beach Regional Airport.

Is Kenny Chesney related to Jake Owen?

No, but Owen and Kenny Chesney are friends. The two have known each other since 2006, when Owen opened for Chesney on his Road and the Radio tour.

In 2020, Owen posted a photo to Instagram of his daughter Pearl with Chesney and the caption, "Pearl and her Uncle Kenny."

Who is Jake Owen touring with in 2023?

After releasing his seventh album, "Loose Cannon," on June 23, Owen announced the Loose Cannon Tour. The tour begins on Sept. 7 in Cleveland, with 12 stops nationwide. There is no Florida date on this tour.
