Jake Gyllenhaal to star in movie adaptation of The Division videogame
Jake Gyllenhaal is producing and starring in Tom Clancy’s The Division — Ubisoft’s next video game-turned-film — his reps confirm to EW.
A director and writer for the film have not yet been confirmed. The video game, which has earned more than $300 million in sales, is set in a dystopian New York City, where a group called “The Division” is tasked with identifying the cause of a viral outbreak.
The film will follow other Ubisoft adaptations including Assassin’s Creed (starring Michael Fassbender) from Fox and New Regency, and Splinter Cell (starring Tom Hardy), another Tom Clancy-inspired project over at Paramount. Both films are currently in post-production.
Gyllenhaal can next be seen opposite Amy Adams in the Tom Ford film Nocturnal Animals, which opens Nov. 18.
