Jag Bains won his third comp and third Veto of “Big Brother 25” this week — and it wasn’t just any old Veto. It was OTEV. And with it, he joins the esteemed list of OTEV champs. But will he defy the OTEV curse and become only the second OTEV winner after Cody Calafiore to go on to win the game?

Before Cody, no one had ever won both in the same season. Since OTEV made its debut in Season 7 in 2006, it’s been in every installment except Season 10. Here are all the OTEV champs:

Dan won the OTEV-less Season 10 before winning OTEV in Season 14, on which he finished runner-up. He is the only other person who has won both, just not in the same season. He is one also one of four OTEV winners who finished second, along with Ryan, Liz and Tyler.

Jag has his work cut out for him to win the whole shebang. Not only does he have to overcome the OTEV curse, but he’s also attempting to become the first previously evicted houseguest to win the game. Since reentering in Week 4, thanks to Matt using the Power of Invincibility on him, Jag has made it to jury, a phase every previously evicted houseguest has reached except Kaysar Ridha in Season 6. But a previously evicted houseguest has yet to win to “Big Brother.” None of them have placed higher than fourth.

The finale is still a month away, but the good (and bad) news for Jag is that he’s gaming better than he did before he was evicted. Can he kill two birds with one stone now?
