Jada Pinkett Smith Gave a Subtle Update on Her Estranged Marriage With Husband Will Smith

It’s been seven months since Jada Pinkett Smith confirmed that she and husband Will Smith had been separated for seven years. The jaw-dropping revelation sent fans into a tailspin while the former couple showed a united front during the headline tornado while she was promoting her memoir, Worthy.

The dynamic duo seems to be on that same path after Pinkett Smith was spotted on the red carpet in Dubai on Wednesday at a screening for his upcoming film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die. She is still Smith’s ride or die even though they did not pose together for the cameras – they walked separately. (See the photos HERE.) But we have to say that Dubai is a long way to travel for a movie if you aren’t on friendly terms with your on-again, off-again spouse.

In her bombshell NBC News special interview, Pinkett Smith made it clear that divorce was not on the table right now. “I think just not being ready yet,” she explained. “Still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership, right, and in regards to how do we present that to people, you know? And we hadn’t figured that out.” She doubled down on their togetherness in a November 2023 interview on The Drew Barrymore Show by describing them as “staying together forever.”

“I think that one of those next stages in relationships is when you really learn how to accept yourself fully, you really learn how to accept your partner fully as well,” Pinkett Smith added. “That’s been a journey all in itself.” What has made the situation more confusing is the fact that Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars after he made fun of Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.

For her, that night was an out-of-body experience. “First of all, I’m really shocked, because mind you, I’m not there [in our relationship],” she shared with NBC News. “We haven’t called each other husband and wife in a long time. … I’m really worried for Will because I don’t know what’s going on.” Fans also don’t know what’s really going on in their marriage either, but they at least seem to be comfortable with the “family” label. Family always sticks together and supports each other through the good and the bad times — and that’s what Pinkett Smith seems to be doing for Smith.
