The fun night out came after Pinkett Smith revealed to InStyle — in a new interview published Tuesday — how she approached her new memoir, Worthy, with her children and how they responded to it.

The actress shares Willow, as well as son Jaden Smith with husband Will Smith, whom she married in 1997. Meanwhile, the King Richard actor also shares son Trey Smith with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino.

“What I did was tell them what's in the book, what stories I was going to tell about them specifically, and [ask] if they were okay with that,” Pinkett Smith explained to the outlet, adding that “Willow has read [it], she's an avid reader, and she's the next author in the family."

The Girls Trip actress then revealed that her daughter had "read a huge part of my book before it was even edited, so she loved it," and "couldn't wait" to read the finished product when it arrived.

"She was super excited about it," Pinkett Smith told InStyle, adding that with "the boys [Jaden and Trey], I just told them what was in it. They'll read it eventually.”

Last week, the actress revealed on the Today show that she and Smith, 55, have been separated since 2016, telling host Hoda Kotb that the pair had not shared that information publicly before as they weren't "ready yet." She also told Kotb that the two had been "still trying to figure out, between the two of us, how to be in partnership."

In an excerpt from Worthy that was published exclusively by PEOPLE last week ahead of the book's Tuesday release, Pinkett Smith wrote about her reaction to Smith referring to her as his wife when he assaulted Chris Rock onstage at the 2022 Academy Awards, after the comedian had made fun of her shaved head, despite her having alopecia.

She wrote, in part: "We had been living separate lives and were there as family, not as husband and wife. But when I hear Will yell “wife” in the chaos of the moment, an internal shift of Oh s--- . . . I am his wife! happens instantly."

Despite their separation, Pinkett Smith recently explained during an interview that the Oscar winning actor is “still my man.”

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, Colbert queried the actress on whether he should refer to Smith as, “Still husband? Or former husband?”

“He’s still — that’s still my man, that’s still my man,” Pinkett Smith replied. “I call us ‘life partners,’” she added. “But he’s my dude. He’s my right hand.”
