After partnering with superstar Farruko for a new version of “Quiéreme,” Jacob Forever dropped an all new music video for the reggaetón track on Friday (May 26).

Filmed in Jacob’s native Cuba, the “Quiéreme” music video was directed by Jessy Terrero, and touches on death and grief. But, you’ll want to stick around until the very end, for a happy twist ending.

Billboard spoke with the “Hasta que se seque el malecón” singer to talk about “Quiéreme,” and his future plans for 2017.

What was the inspiration behind the “Quiéreme” music video?

We wanted a universal theme for the visual, an idea that would transmit what “Quiéreme” is all about it. Jessy Terrero presented us this idea that we really liked from the very beginning. I had a lot of confidence in his job, and working with him was a dream come true, since I have been following his work for a long time now.

On a recent Instagram post you wrote that you had always “dreamed” about shooting a video with Terrero. How was it to work with him for the creation of this video?

Jessy has also followed my career, and told me that he’s a fan of what I’ve been doing, so working with him was a very positive experience. I’m so happy I was able to connect with Jessy. He’s such a professional and he explains everything step by step, so that all these ideas he has in his head can come to life.

How did the collaboration with Farruko come about?

I had previously worked with him in “Hasta que se seque el malecón” and now we’re here, defending “Quiéreme” and hoping that our fans enjoy it as much as we enjoy it more every day.

Earlier this year you released your Invicto album. What more can we expect from you this year?

Invicto gave us much happiness and it was so well accepted since its release. Now, I only want to focus on discovering little corners of the world where I want to go with “Quiéreme,” and just keep on thanking all the Cubans around the world and all the Latinos who support our music.
