Jacob Elordi finds the possibility of playing James Bond “beautiful.”

The Saltburn actor reacted to the casting rumors, telling Extra earlier this week his view on potentially inheriting the role of 007 from Daniel Craig, Sean Connery and other screen legends.

“Bond? James Bond?” asked the actor in answer to a question about his name being floated for the role. “Is that what they’re saying?”

“Oh my goodness, wow,” he continued. “That’s beautiful.”

Elordi's Saltburn costar Barry Keoghan asked Elordi, “Are you playing Bond?” and quipped, “I’ll play your villain in Bond.”

Australian actor Elordi, 26, first caught fans’ attention in the Kissing Booth films before becoming one of the breakout stars of HBO’s Euphoria. In addition to Saltburn, Elordi is currently on the big screen as Elvis Presley in Priscilla.

“I just like that people maybe want to put me in their movies,” he told Extra in response to the Bond rumors. “That makes me really glad.”

Following 2021’s No Time to Die, Craig stepped down as the iconic international spy after a 15-year tenure in the role. In October, Bond producer Barbara Broccoli indicated fans may have to wait a while longer until a new actor is announced.

"I think these movies reflect the time they are in, and there’s a big, big road ahead reinventing it for the next chapter, and we haven’t even begun with that,” she told The Guardian. Meanwhile, rumors of Idris Elba, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Rege-Jean Page and more have been floated as potential replacements.

Broccoli has also dropped hints that while producers are thinking outside the box in terms of casting, Bond will be played by a man.

“I believe we should be creating new characters for women — strong female characters,” she told Variety in 2020. “I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it.”

Producer Michael G. Wilson previously said in 2022, "We've tried looking at younger people in the past. But trying to visualize it doesn't work. Bond's already a veteran. He's had some experience.”

Elordi told GQ earlier this month that another cinematic icon allegedly became a possibility for his growing résumé. “They asked me to read for Superman,” he said. “That was immediately, ‘No, thank you.’ That’s too much. That’s too dark for me.”

He added of doing a superhero role: “I’ve always been told to say a rounded answer or my agent will get mad at me. ‘Anything can happen!’ And obviously, anything can happen, but at this stage in my life I don’t see myself having any interest in that.”

It was announced in June that David Corenswet will play Superman in the upcoming Superman: Legacy alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

Elordi’s name was also recently mentioned as a possibility in the Twilight franchise. On Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast Monday, director Catherine Hardwicke discussed a potential reboot and recasting of her 2008 film. For the role of vampire Edward Cullen, she said Elordi “probably would be Edward today, exactly.”

“That would be perfect,” Hardwicke added. “Have you seen Saltburn? He’s amazing.”

Saltburn is in theaters now.
