Jacksonville-area restaurant roundup: 8 opened or closed in June

June saw the abrupt closure of a chicken and biscuit chain’s three Jacksonville-area restaurants as well as the shuttering of a St. Augustine fine dining destination.

Meanwhile, the first rooftop restaurant with a menu as elegant as its oceanfront view opened in Ponte Vedra Beach. And a popular French café opened its third restaurant in Jacksonville.

In addition, two new doughnut shops opened, including one from a Jacksonville couple dedicated to their son who has autism.

Five years after opening its fourth Northeast Florida restaurant in St. Augustine and plans to open as many as five more in the area, Bojangles closed abruptly three of its corporate-owned standalone restaurants in Jacksonville and Orange Park on June 25, including 4463 Deerwood Lake Parkway and 13559 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville and 492 Blanding Blvd. location in Orange Park. The St. Augustine restaurant remains open. | Read more

An authentic taste of France is on the menu as the third Le Petit Paris cafe opened June 30 at 7111 Bentley Road off JTB near Interstate 95 in Southpoint. The cafe is known for its made freshly made quiche, tartines and other pastries, salads, baguettes and croissant sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches and more. Coffee, espresso and tea are among the top beverages. The new restaurant joins Le Petit locations at 9965 San Jose Blvd., Suite 46 and 363 Atlantic Blvd. Suite 14 in Atlantic Beach.

Parlor Doughnuts opened its third Jacksonville-area location on May 18 at  528 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville Beach at the site of the former Wonderbird, which closed earlier this year. It is the first Parlor Doughnuts in Northeast Florida to have a drive-thru.
