EXCLUSIVE: The Jackson Hole International Film Festival will debut December 8 to 10 in Jackson, WY, via a new partnership with the Hamptons International Film Festival.

The mountain town is a longtime destination for vacationers and outdoor sports enthusiasts and also home, at least seasonally, to a number of film industry figures. Among the latter is local resident Stuart Suna, former owner of New York production mainstay Silvercup Studios, co-founder of the Hamptons fest and founder of the new event in Jackson.

The inaugural outing will feature eight narrative and documentary features, all selected by
Hamptons Artistic Director David Nugent. The opening film is I‘ll Be Right There, a comedy starring Edie Falco, Jeannie Berlin, Kayli Carter, Charlie Tahan and Bradley Whitford and exec produced by Falco and Jessie Eisenberg. It world premiered last month in the Hamptons.

“A film festival is a great way to stimulate artistic imagination and contribute to the culture of the community,” Suna said. “I can’t think of a better way to start this now annual event than with Brendan Walsh’s moving I’ll Be Right There.”

Other films on the docket include American Fiction, A Great Divide, Society of the Snow, Trees & Other Entanglements, Avenue of the Giants, The Taste of Things and They Called Him Mostly Harmless. Films will be screened at The National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Jackson Hole International Film Festival on their inaugural festival. The expansion of the HamptonsFilm footprint partnering with a like-minded resort community has been a dream for many years,” said Anne Chaisson, Executive Director of the Hamptons International Film Festival.

“As we embark on our inaugural three-day event, our hope is to celebrate the art and science of cinema, while also exploring the magic of storytelling as a powerful tool to expand world views,” says Marni Walsh, Executive Director of the Jackson Hole International Film Festival. “We are grateful to our partnership with HIFF in making it possible to share some of this year’s most anticipated projects with our audiences.”

Along with Suna, who serves as Chair of Jackson Hole and Chairman Emeritus of the Hamptons, the Jackson board will include Oscar-winning filmmaker Jimmy Chin, as well as Emmy-nominated cinematographer Danny Moder.

The Wyoming community has also hosted cultural events like the unaffiliated Jackson Wild, originally known as the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, which was founded in 1991.
