Thanksgiving, which is Thursday, Nov. 23, this year is fast-approaching.

Although it is a tradition for families to enjoy time and meals together around the dinner table in the comfort of their homes, who says that food on the Thanksgiving dinner table has to be your own creations?

Whether you're just not in the mood to host, cook a large dinner this year or clean up a messy kitchen, you can skip the hassle and visit a restaurant in the Jackson area that plans to be open for Thanksgiving.

Below are a few Jackson-area restaurants that plan to be open for business on Thanksgiving Day, with some serving traditional holiday fare and others providing alternatives to the conventional holiday options.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

All Cracker Barrel's locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. serving traditional Thanksgiving dishes with multiple options from which to choose. They will be closed for Christmas.

Applebee’s

Applebee’s locations in Flowood, Madison, Clinton and Brandon plan to be open on Thanksgiving Day. The family-friendly chain will offer its traditional menu.

Denny’s

Both the Ridgeland and Pearl locations will be open on Thanksgiving Day serving the restaurant's diner classics.

Scrooge's Fine Foods & Drink

The restaurant opens at 11 a.m., and while reservations for parties of six or more are accepted, customers will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis only.

Whataburger

Flowood and Ridgeland Whataburger locations plan to be open for Thanksgiving for regular takeout food options.

Georgia Blue

Both Flowood and Madison locations of Georgia Blue plan to be open for Thanksgiving serving their traditional soul-food options.

Ding How Asia Bistro 

The Asian Bistro located on Old Canton Road in Ridgeland plans to be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

Old Capitol Inn

The Old Capitol Inn restaurant is located on North State St., and will have a buffet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Prices are $32 for adults and $15 for children.  Reservations can be made at 601-359-9000.

Piccadilly

The cafeteria-style restaurant has two locations in the Jackson metro area that plan to be open on Thanksgiving, I-55 North location from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Robinson Road location that plans to be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Jackson medical mall location will be closed this year.

Capitol Grill

The Capitol Grill sports bar located in Jackson will be open from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

Non Food locations that are open on Thanksgiving:

Walgreens in Flowood will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pharmacy will be closed.

Walgreens on Old Canton Mart will be open 24 hours. Pharmacy will be closed.
