When the trailer was released last month, it was revealed that Hugh Grant would be portraying an Oompa Loompa — a role that had previously been played by little people.

In a TikTok, Jason shared his feelings about the casting, throwing some shade toward Hugh.

"Hugh Grant is now playing an Oompa Loompa? So I guess, Hugh Grant, you're now identifying as a little person? Interesting," Jason said in the video.

Jason is just one of a growing number of actors with dwarfism who are unhappy with Hugh's casting in the movie.

Actor George Coppen penned a note on his own Instagram, asking why a little person hadn't been cast in the role.

"In the previous two films, all the Oompa Loompas have been played by dwarves, but this time round they have decided to take work away from us," he wrote.

He later added, "Now, some people will say that roles like this are demeaning and we should be playing more 'normal' roles which is completely true, but we aren't getting offered those roles so they have kind of shut one door for us without opening the other one."

While it's unclear if there will be any other Oompa Loompas in the film who may be portrayed by little people, director Paul King has defended his decision to cast Hugh.

"I was really just thinking about that character; somebody who could be a real shit, and then — ah! Hugh! Because he’s the funniest, most sarcastic shit I’ve ever met," Paul told the Hollywood Reporter.
