"Jackass Forever" star Johnny Knoxville started his 2022 off with the promise of more bodily pain by entering WWE's Jan. 29 Royal Rumble event.

The 50-year-old Knoxville posted an Instagram "big announcement" on New Year's Day stating his intention to join the pay-per-view event that features 30 pro wrestlers battling in the ring, with only one emerging victorious.

"I want to do something else, something big," Knoxville said of 2022 in the video. "That's right, I wanna make a run for the Rumble, that's right WWE's Royal Rumble. Thirty men enter, one guy is left standing. That's me."

Knoxville's upcoming movie "Jackass Forever" opens on February 4. So strictly in terms of publicity, the move made sense.

Knoxville has learned the taunting part of pro wrestling from heroes like The Rock, Abdullah the Butcher and the great Gorilla Monsoon.

"Training starts today," Knoxville wrote in the post. "Not that I will need a lot of it because I have seen the WWE’s current roster and it’s laughable to think anyone can throw me over the top rope. LAUGHABLE!"

"The way I’m looking at it, I am giving myself a 100% chance of winning," Knoxville wrote, signing off as "World Champ."

DJ Samantha Ronson spoke for many by commenting simply, "Please don’t get hurt."

During the Jan. 7 "WWE SmackDown," Knoxville took criticism from WWE star Sami Zayn, saying he didn’t have what it takes to compete in the ring.

"This isn't 'Jackass,' " Zayn sneered. "I'm trying to be nice about this, but you're not qualified to do this."

After losing his own match, Zayn then was tossed from the ring by Knoxville. The announcer stated that an exuberant Knoxville had qualified for the Royal Rumble.

"It was a real pleasure to dump low-achieving loudmouth @samizayn over the top rope tonight on #smackdown," Knoxville taunted on Instagram. "Can’t wait to dump more 'superstars' over the top rope at @wwe Royal Rumble. It’s on!!!"

But Knoxville also expressed concern about fan safety at the event. "Please do not sit anyone in the first four rows because if I have my way I’m going to be slinging 'superstars' into at least the 3rd. I know those are premium seats but again fan safety is my biggest concern," he wrote in another Instagram post.

Knoxville signed both updates as "World Champion."

UPDATE: Knoxville is vowing "revenge" after getting tossed from the Jan. 29 Royal Rumble ring. He made a showboat arena entrance wearing a crown, a body-fitting onesie and a red cape that matched his knee pads. Knoxville got some licks in during the ring battle.

But WWE star Ridge Holland placed Knoxville outside the ring, leaving him clinging to the ropes. Knoxville was then brutally eliminated by budding arch-rival Sami Zayn with a boot to the face.

"That low down and dirty Sami Zayn, that coward," Knoxville fumed to USA TODAY during a "Jackass Forever" interview. "It took four men to get me outta that ring. I'll get my revenge."

Knoxville would not specify the revenge, only saying he was training.

On the bright side, the "Jackass Forever" star felt no pain from the wrestling blows. "But I'm really not in touch with my body, which has helped me so much in doing what I do," he said.
