Jack Reynor: Andy Serkis’ Jungle Book Is More Faithful To Kipling

Andy Serkis’ adaptation of ‘The Jungle Book’ will be more faithful to the source material than Disney’s recent effort according to one its stars.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies while promoting his new film ‘Sing Street’, Jack Reynor says Warner Bros.’ take – due in 2018 – is “very much Rudyard Kipling’s ‘Jungle Book’”.

“Andy Serkis [below] is directing, and it’s his official directorial debut, which was an honour to be part of obviously,” added Jack who’s playing Brother Wolf, “I think it’s going to be really good.”

The new ‘Jungle Book’ – which also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett – was recently delayed from 2017 to 2018 and Jack says this was to allow the technology to match the director’s vision.

“We’re waiting until 2018 until it’s released and that’s I suppose partly because there’s this ‘Jungle Book’ that’s out now, but also because the technology actually needs to catch up with Andy.”

“He’s really… he’s gone like Stanley Kubrick was, in a way, he just does things that nobody can even imagine and it takes time for people to catch on to what he’s doing, and figure out how to make it a possibility.”

‘Jungle Book’ is coming to cinemas in October, 2018.
