Taking place on Saturday, May 18, the Preakness is the second jewel in thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown, with a purse of $2 million. This year makes the 149th running of the Preakness Stakes, which take place at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

Harlow is expected to take the stage immediately following the horse races, though the Preakness LIVE lineup will kick off at 10:30 a.m. ET that day, with performances from Gryffin, Channel Tres, Frank Walker, and Chantel Jeffries.

While the Louisville-born Harlow has appeared at his hometown Kentucky Derby before (even shouting out the Churchill Downs racetrack in his 2022 single of the same name), this will mark the rapper’s debut at the legendary Pimlico infield.

In addition to Harlow’s performance, this year’s Preakness LIVE event will feature a VIP area curated by Palm Tree Crew, DJ Kygo’s entertainment and hospitality brand. Along with views of the race track, the “Palm Club” VIP area will offer an open bar and complimentary food, plus bottle service tables for purchase.

Other race-day activations include the AfroPreak Lounge, put on in conjunction with Baltimore branding and marketing firm, The Finn Group. Pairing “Afro-Latino culinary offerings” with the backdrop of the races and African and Caribbean music, the lounge aims to provide “a diverse and engaging experience” for Preakness guests.

Fans and local residents will be able to take part in the George “Spider” Anderson Preakness Music and Arts Festival, an annual community event named after the African-American jockey who famously won the 1889 Preakness Stakes. Taking place May 11 in the Park Heights neighborhood of Baltimore, the festival aims to be a “showcase of live music and a spotlight on community enterprises and collaborations.”

The Preakness events are once again being put on by 1/ST, the thoroughbred horse racing, entertainment and wagering brand that also produces Miami’s Pegasus World Cup and the upcoming California Crown. Previous performers for the Preakness have included Megan Thee Stallion and Lauryn Hill.

“We’re thrilled to be back for Preakness 149 and Preakness LIVE, and to celebrate the incredible connection this event has to the city of Baltimore and to Maryland,” says Belinda Stronach, Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer, 1/ST. “We are proud to work with exceptional national and local partners who share our vision for the future of the highest standard of world-class Thoroughbred horse racing combined with unique and elevated guest experiences, and exciting wagering opportunities.”

In addition to the $2 million purse for the Preakness Stakes, organizers have increased prize money for the Dinner Party Stakes to $500,000. There is a total of $3.3 million on the line this year, making Preakness 149 race day the most lucrative in the event’s history.

Tickets to see Harlow at Preakness LIVE (and all the Preakness experiences) are now available for purchase at preakness.com. Prices range from $69 for general admission tickets to $650 for Palm Club VIP. You can also find race-day tickets at Ticketmaster.com.
