Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Daniela Nieves Among 5 Cast In Netflix Medical Drama Series ‘Pulse’

Pulse, Netflix’s first original medical procedural, has added five to its cast. Pennyworth star Jack Bannon, The Boys’ Jessie T. Usher, Chelsea Muirhead (Warrior), Daniela Nieves (Vampire Academy) and Jessy Yates (Law & Order: SVU) join previously announced Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell and Justina Machado in the drama series from first-time creator Zoe Robyn and veteran Carlton Cuse.

Created by Robyn, in Pulse, while the staff of Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center navigate medical emergencies, young ER doc Danny Simms (Fitzgerald) is unexpectedly promoted to Chief Resident amidst the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship.

Bannon will play Tom Cole. A Surgical Resident, Tom is a witty and charming Brit who came to Miami for the excellent trauma program, but also for the lifestyle that Miami offers.

Usher portrays Sam Elijah, a third-year Emergency Medicine Resident. Born and raised in the Florida panhandle, Elijah is a thoughtful and altruistic doctor who, under his calm and considered demeanor, has a competitive edge.

Muirhead is Sophie Chan. A surgical intern, Sophie is smart and capable and willing to endure anything in her quest to become a great surgeon.

Nieves will play Camila Perez. Camila is a third-year medical student who, despite long hours and an endless workload, always manages to stay optimistic.

Yates will play Harper. A second-year Emergency Medicine resident and wheelchair user, Harper is self-assured, introspective, and is the younger sister of Danny Simms.

Robyn and Cuse serve as showrunners and executive producers. Bradley Garner, Emma Forman and Michael Klick also executive produce. Kate Dennis will serve as director and executive producer on Episodes 1 and 2.

Bannon most recently wrapped the six-part series The Darkness, directed by Lasse Hallström and produced by Stampede Ventures, Truenorth and CBS Studios. He recently starred as the title character Alfred Pennyworth in Max series Pennyworth, which ran for three seasons. His other credits include UK series Endeavour and films Kids in Love, The Imitation Game and Fury.

Usher stars as A-Train in Amazon’s hit series The Boys as A-Train and reprises the role in The Boys spinoff Gen V. His other television credits include Starz’s Survivor’s Remorse, MacGyver and Tales of the Walking Dead and in features The Banker, Dangerous Lies, Smile and Seal Team, among others.

Muirhead’s most recent credits include playing Yan Mi, in the hit show Warrior, based on the writings of Bruce Lee.

Nieves was most recently seen leading the cast of Peacock’s YA series Vampire Academy. Her other television credits include recurring on FX’s Snowfall as well as CBS’ All Rise. On the film side, she most recently appeared in Hulu comedy Sex Appeal.

Yates has appeared in key roles on series such as Law & Order: SVU and Speechless, and soon can be seen on the Apple TV+ series, Me.
