His next recurring role was in the Shonda Rhimes drama series Grey’s Anatomy, playing the role of Charlie Yost. Axelrod would then land on My Name Is Earl for eight episodes between 2005 and 2008.

Axelrod’s other television credits included shows like The Office, Raising Hope, Hot in Cleveland, Love Bites, Franklin & Bash, Criminal Minds, Animal Practice, Hawaii Five-0, Kirstie, Mulaney, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Ray Donovan, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Baskets, Dice, Station 19 and No Activity. His last television credit was in Modern Family, playing Harvey in a 2019 episode of the ABC sitcom.

Axelrod’s film credits include the Will Smith 2008 film Hancock, the Meet the Parents sequel Little Fockers, the J.J. Abrams-directed film Super 8 in 2011 and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
