J.R. Smith posts "Goood Bye CAVS!!" on Facebook, deletes it, claims he was hacked

With the NBA draft about 24 hours away and the NBA offseason already in full frenzy with trades and speculation, J.R. Smith joined the fun – if only for a few minutes – with what he later claimed was a hacked Facebook post.

Then came the deletion and the following from his Twitter account:

It’s not the first time Smith has claimed he was hacked. The lovable, enigmatic 3-point chucker tweeted “Cavs in 7.” following the team’s Game 3 loss to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. He then deleted the tweet and claimed he was hacked. The loss put the Cavs in a 3-0 series deficit, one that’s never been overcome in NBA history. The Warriors won the series in five games.

Smith signed a four-year, $57-million contract shortly before the 2016-2017 season tipped off and averaged 8.6 points in a regular season mired by injury. He also chipped in 8.1 points per game in the playoffs on 50 percent 3-point shooting.

The Cavs, meanwhile, have had no shortage of offseason drama. Owner Dan Gilbert elected to not renew the contract of general manager David Griffin, a decision that didn’t make LeBron James all too happy. Former Detroit Pistons star Chauncey Billups looks to be a strong contender to replace Griffin. Add in the fact that the team is supposedly trying to add another star such as the Bulls’ Jimmy Butler or the Pacers’ Paul George, and it’s been quite the offseason already for the Eastern Conference champs.

Smith, even if just for a few fleeting moments, added yet another jolt.
