Actor, producer, singer and entertainer Jennifer Lopez has now been announced as the world face of Coach, and of course that was a good move for the fashion label.

But why?

Uptown Girl

Her first photo is a sparkling black and white photo wearing Coach's clothing. She looks pretty damn good.

“I’m so excited for this collaboration with Coach. It is a timeless brand that I’ve always been a fan of and the upcoming collection really speaks to my personal style – an uptown downtown mix," Lopez said in a press release.

'I Bank On Myself'

Lopez has certainly been busy in 2019.

She's gotten some Oscar buzz for her role in the movie Hustlers, and recently said that she worked on the film for free, just because she felt it was an important project.

"I do things because I love them. I didn't get paid a whole bunch of money for Hustlers. I did it for free and produced it. I bank on myself. That's the Jenny From the Block."

'The Wrong Fit'?

Some on social media have taken issue with Lopez as the face of Coach, because of course they did.

They're referencing that Selena Gomez was recently in front of the cameras for the fashion brand -- so what happened there? It's unclear.

@VVFriedman says Coach is just switching its fashion icons a bit too much:

"Jennifer Lopez is the new global face of...Coach? Weren't they just cozy with Selena Gomez? Wasn't JLo just on the Versace runway? Hard to keep up with the celeb/brand musical chairs these days."

@dalybeauty wrote:

"Coach lost its customer years ago & started to find its way back with Selena. Brands have to start young & get customers for life.

J Lo is just the wrong fit & proves the brand still doesn’t know itself or who it’s customer is."

Lopez Makes Perfect Sense

But as Paper writes, Lopez has worn plenty of Coach items, and she's been doing it for quite a while now:

"In her 2002 music video for 'All I Have,' Jennifer Lopez is seen walking the streets of New York carrying several bags from Coach's Signature line."

Paper went on to explain exactly why J. Lo and Coach were meant to be together.

"A J. Lo and Coach partnership makes sense for several reasons. While both have roots in New York City, it's their evolving high fashion credentials that brings them together.

Lopez has upped her style game considerably in the past couple of years, landing several best-dressed lists and creating some of the most memorable street and red carpet looks."

Paper also mentioned that Coach has been undergoing some changes regarding their new creative director, so perhaps this J. Lo pairing is part of that movement.

"Coach, meanwhile, has undergone a renaissance of sorts under creative director Stuart Vevers."

She looks good lugging all those Coach bags, so really, where's the problem?
