J.Lo Embarrassed After Not Knowing How Much N.Y. Subway Costs
On Monday night, Jennifer Lopez made her first visit to The Daily Show since Trevor Noah took the reins. Lopez probably thought she was gonna have an easy chat with the comedian, but it wasn’t long before Noah checked her street cred.
Lopez grew up in New York, but since she has become a superstar, her time spent in the city has diminished. The singer was caught a little off guard when the host asked, “Do you still know the subway?” To which she replied, “Yeah, I know.” Noah then followed up with, “Do you even know how much a subway ticket costs?”
Lopez said, “I started riding the subway when it was 50 cents, it went to 75, maybe, the last time, it was like … $1.75?” When Noah told her the subway now costs $2.75, Lopez was visibly embarrassed. And Noah made matters worse, saying, “J. Lo, $2.75! You’re a dollar removed from your fans, J. Lo!”
Lopez was a good sport about the whole thing and managed to redeem herself when asked, “What is the last stop on the 6 train?” Without much hesitation Lopez said, “Come on, this is easy, the Brooklyn Bridge! And Pelham Bay on my side, in the Bronx.”
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central.
