J. Cole shared Colin Kaepernick’s letter to the New York Jets asking for a shot on their roster. On Tuesday (Sept. 26), the Dreamville founder posted the lengthy note to his Instagram. Cole explained that he pleaded with Kaepernick to upload the document. He insisted that the manuscript would show people that he has been working and trying his hardest to get back in the NFL. In the letter, Colin voices his case for why the Jets should go with him as a quarterback while Aaron Rodgers is out for the season.

“I asked Colin Kaepernick if I could share this letter with the world,” the GRAMMY award-winning emcee began. “He was reluctant. My argument was that I believe the people and all organizations should know the truth about how hard he works and how much he still wants to play. And always has. In the end, he agreed to let me.”

“I wish the New York Jets organization luck,” he added. “My boy Bas is a big ass fan so I saw the heartbreak of every Jets fan when Arod went down. Everyone from players, to coaches, to execs are feeling the pressure I’m sure. I hope y’all can turn it around, and I hope there’s a spot out there for my boy Kap. PEACE.”

Colin Kaepernick last played in the NFL in 2017. His final game came against the Seattle Seahawks as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners would ultimately lose the game 25-23. After declaring that he wouldn’t stand for the American flag representing oppression, he was effectively barred from the NFL. Colin has been attempting to get back into the league since.

In 2022, Cole came to Kaep’s defense after a fan questioned whether or not the QB was still fit enough to play. The social media user expressed that the civil rights activist had “no football left in him.” Jermaine shot back, insisting that nobody could get in your way if you want something bad enough.

“And, respectfully, you’re 100% right about throwing against the wind and to ghost db’s,” The Off-Season emcee expressed. “But always remember, he’s been doing that every day for 5 years, when the entire world was saying he had zero shot of ever playing again. Have you ever wanted something that bad?”

Since Rodgers suffered an injury on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills, Zach Wilson has reemerged as the Jets’ starting QB. Wilson’s current 2023 stats include 467 passing yards, 2 TDs, 4 INTs, and a 26.7 quarterback rating — one of the worst in the league. The Jets are currently last place in the AFC East.
