Jerrica Brooks takes after her father: Jerry Brooks, a.k.a. J.B. Smoove.

“I'm basically the female version of him," Jerrica said of her famous dad on ABC’s Claim to Fame in 2023, according to Entertainment Weekly. On The Need to Know Podcast in 2021, she revealed that her mother says she looks like Smoove with “a wig.”

Jerrica is the Curb Your Enthusiasm star’s only child. The day she was born, Smoove made the decision to quit his day job.

Speaking to Art Eddy in an interview published on Life of Dad in 2017, Smoove said, “All of these things had to happen, but it definitely opened me up to the responsibility of being a father and the responsibility of deciding my direction in life.”

The Spider-Man: Far From Home actor is “proud to be a Poppa” to his daughter, whom he’s dubbed “amazing.” In a touching Facebook tribute to Jerrica in 2023, Smoove wrote that she’s “never too old for a daddy hug,” adding, “I have always and will always be here for you.”

Jerrica was born on Oct. 21, 1993. She’s referred to herself on Instagram as a “spicy Libra Queen.”

Smoove celebrated his daughter’s 30th birthday in 2023 with a moving post on Facebook. “On this day Oct 21, 1993 the world was introduced to my beautiful daughter @j.monay21,” he wrote. “I’m so proud of you!”

Smoove decided to quit his day job the day he became a father. “At that time I was just doing clubs, traveling and doing some gigs and colleges,” he recalled in an interview published on Life of Dad. “I was working to keep the lights on. I always say how I work is to keep the lights on and everything else is just gravy.”

“All of a sudden you are about to have a kid,” Smoove continued. “I knew that the only way for me to accomplish the things I wanted to do and get to be at the point where I am now was that I couldn’t be at that day job. I couldn’t achieve my dream. This is not for everybody, but I quit my day job because I wouldn’t have been able to do exactly what I wanted to do if I had kept that day job.”

She’s worked for Sofia Vergara

On an episode of the Do I Know You? podcast in 2023, Jerrica revealed that she once worked for Sofía Vergara.

“I worked for Sofía Vergara, and that’s when I started doing, like, business development,” she said. “Working with ads and like her branding and stuff.”

Jerrica was a contestant on ABC’s Claim to Fame, the show where family members of celebrities conceal their identities and compete in weekly challenges to see who can be the last one standing.

Smoove’s daughter was the runner-up on the second season of the reality competition series. Following the finale, Jerrica wrote on Instagram that being a part of the show was an “absolute dream.”

“Not only did I play an amazing game, but I also stepped out of my comfort zone and showcased the true essence of Jerrica to the world!” she added. “Every moment was a joy, and I made connections that will last a lifetime.”

Many know her as “Monay”

Jerrica used her middle name while competing on Claim to Fame. She admitted to Parade that the “hardest part was really using my middle name and trying to remember to answer to that and then just not really being your full self.”

She added, “You're telling stories about your life, but you're like, ‘I can't say too much,’ because you don't want to give yourself away.”

In an interview with Parade, the reality star noted that her dad is her “biggest fan" and revealed that he would call her weekly to tell her how excited he was for the game.

Her father is a proud girl dad

Smoove commemorated National Daughters Day in 2021 with a photo of himself and Jerrica.

Alongside the father-daughter snapshot on Facebook, he wrote: “National Daughter’s Day should be every [d---] day! We you baby girl @j.brooks21! Happy National Daughters Day to you! Looking forward to all your adventures.”
