Ivanka Trump is getting no sympathy from Judge Arthur Engoron or the internet after doing her best to avoid testifying in Donald Trump’s business fraud civil case in New York. This was just the latest attempt to pause or exit the case completely, but the excuse she used didn’t win her any fans.

She’s no longer a defendant in the case, but her testimony is considered crucial because she was “a primary point of contact and negotiator with Deutsche Bank” for three particular loans that are central to the lawsuit, according to court documents obtained by Newsweek. Ivanka’s time at the Trump Organization was cut short by her exit to become a White House senior adviser to Donald Trump, which saved her from the same fate as her dad, and brothers Eric and Donald Trump Jr., in the case. But her lawyer’s excuse to delay her testimony really wins the prize for the most out-of-touch reason.

Her attorney claimed that Ivanka would bear “undue hardship” if her testimony was scheduled on Nov. 8 because it fell “in the middle of a school week.” It’s hard not to scoff at that since her wealth is no obstacle in hiring a babysitter or nanny to watch her three children, Arabella, 12, Joseph, 10, and Theodore, 7. An appeals court, not surprisingly, turned down her request on Thursday. Of course, that’s when the internet went into overdrive with a bit of snark.

“As always, Ivanka has her finger on the pulse of the hardships faced by America’s working men and women,” wrote Mary Trump, Donald Trump’s niece, on X, formerly Twitter. “Who among us isn’t reluctant to leave our children with the governess when we have to travel out of town to testify in their grandpa’s fraud trial? She’s such an entitled a***hole.” MSNBC’s Katie Phang not only criticized Ivanka about her “privilege,” but she included the court documents with the denial. And another account wrote what everyone was thinking, “She has 6 nannies, 4 babysitters, a live-in staff, a mother-in-law who lives 2 blocks away and a sister-in-law who watches her kids whenever she needs her to. But yeah, better pause the trial for Princess Ivanka because ‘it’s a school week’ and this creates ‘undue hardship.’ GTFO.”

With many families living paycheck to paycheck amid escalating childcare costs in a challenging economic environment, Ivanka probably isn’t going to find any supporters with this issue. It’s best that she get the testimony over with as quickly as possibly because it’s going to be hard for Donald Trump to avoid the legal issues he’s facing. Ivanka can’t save her dad at this point.
