EXCLUSIVE: ITV panel show Sorry, I Didn’t Know has sealed itself in the record books by becoming the network’s longest-running show from a production company led by Black creatives.

Hosted by Bel-Air star Jimmy Akingbola and shot in front of a live audience in London, the series, which launched just after the Black Lives Matter protests, sees team captains Chizzy Akudolu and Eddie Kadi plus guests take each other on in several quiz rounds mainly centered on Black history.

Produced by TriForce Productions, Sorry, I Didn’t Know has consistently made history itself, first becoming the inaugural UK TV quiz show to be centered on Black history, before being shifted away from the Black History Month schedules and now becoming “the longest running show produced by a company led by Black creatives,” according to the producers. Producers believe it is the longest-running show from a Black-led indie across all UK networks.

TriForce was founded by Fraser Ayres, Minnie Ayres and Akingbola and day-to-day operations are overseen by Fraser Ayres and Minnie Ayres.

On Sorry, I Didn’t Know, Triforce has extended its training scheme with the placement of another trainee writer role joining the team. Led by Fraser Ayres, the new trainee will also get to work alongside the rest of the writing team, including Viv May (Have I Got News For You) and Mark Boutros (8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown). The role forms part of a trainee program across several departments, funded by ITV’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department, and several former trainees will be returning in more senior roles again this series.

Fraser Ayres said: “We’re thrilled to be working with ITV once more on this groundbreaking series and are looking forward to showcasing the best in new and established on screen comedy talent, as well as supporting and developing off screen talent through our work with [training outfit] Dandi.”

ITV entertainment boss Katie Rawcliffe added: “I am delighted Sorry, I Didn’t Know is returning for its fifth series, a testament to the entire team, both on and off screen.”

The fifth outing will be exec produced for TriForce Productions by Fraser Ayres, Minnie Ayres and Akingbola. The series producer is Delia Williams.
