New York Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck will be out indefinitely after suffering a freak injury against the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

Clutterbuck’s left wrist was sliced open, accidentally, by Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron’s skate blade as he fell to the ice. The Islanders’ forward immediately grabbed his wrist and left the game.

As you would probably expect, do not watch this video if you’re disturbed by gore or violence:

“Cal Clutterbuck did have an operation yesterday to just repair a couple of little pieces. The cut was clean, no complications. We’re just going to say out indefinitely...It’s just going to be a matter of time when it heals,” Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello said, via Newsday’s Andrew Gross.

Clutterbuck posted three goals and seven points in 33 games this season.
