Isla Fisher Mocks Two Trumps in One Speech

When it comes to experts in mocking people, you might not first think of Isla Fisher. In fact, you probably think of her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen, who has made a career out of crude insults.

But on December 7th at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards, Fisher proved an equal spouse in snark when she dissed the Trumps – both Donald and Melania.

During her acceptance speech for the Trailblazer Award, the Aussie said: “From a young age my parents impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in this life…”

A perceptive listener might feel like they’ve heard that line before. An even more perceptive listener might feel like they’ve heard it twice. Which they have.

Fisher copped to stealing the line from Melania Trump’s Republican National Convention speech, which she stole from Michelle Obama’s 2008 Democratic National Convention speech. Fisher admitted: “I figured if Melania Trump can use them and have success, I should try.”

But Fisher also took on the other Trump, Donald, and snarkily “thanked him” for her award by saying: “I don’t think I’d be here if it weren’t for him showing the world that unqualified orange people can win things.”

A zinger for sure but does Isla Fisher think she’s orange? Is she referencing her ginger hair? Either way, we’ll have to see if Trump decides to start any Twitter beef with her – which is a distinct honor of its own.
