The Iron Claw is one of the best finishing moves in wrestling history. The performer forms a one-handed vice grip on their opponent’s head, defeating them with intense theatrics. The move—and the family—are at the center of A24’s phenomenal drama The Iron Claw. Starring Zac Efron, The Bears Jeremy Allen White, and Triangle of Sadness’ Harris Dickinson, the film tells the tragic story of the Von Erich brothers’ rise and fall in the world of competitive wrestling.

The Iron Claw received critical acclaim last year following a Christmas 2023 release, even though the sports drama was shockingly left out of awards season. Here at Esquire, we even made an impassioned case that Efron belonged in the Best Actor race at the Oscars. The film also features Lily James (Pam & Tommy), Maura Tierney (ER), and current AEW wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

Luckily for audiences, the wait for a streaming release (during which you no doubt honed your own wresting techniques) is finally over. The Iron Claw is now available to stream on Max. Plans start at $9.99/month for the ad-supported tier and $15.99/month for ad-free streaming. You can also of course rent or buy the film on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

After another viewing, I’m thinking about wrapping my opponent in the ropes like a spider and finishing with a dropkick. Hopefully the Van Erich clan would approve.
