‘Iron Chef America’ Reboot In The Works At Food Network
A new iteration of the popular, long-running series Iron Chef America is in the works at Food Network.
The network is planning Iron Chef Gauntlet, a reimagined reboot of Iron Chef America, the cooking show based on the Japanese cult classic known for its fierce competition, secret ingredients and the ultimate culinary bragging rights for its victors and champions. Iron Chef America‘s commentator Alton Brown is set to return as host and master of ceremonies; he confirmed the news today on his social media platforms.
There aren’t a lot of details so far, but pre-production is underway for the new series, which will take its cues from the original along with some new twists and turns. Production is scheduled for early 2017 with a target series launch date in Q2 2017.
Iron Chef America: The Series ran for 12 cycles from 2005-14, featuring such culinary TV stars as Bobby Flay, Masaharu Morimoto, Michael Symon, Marc Forgione, Geoffrey Zakarian and Alex Guarnaschelli. It also spawned Next Iron Chef in 2007. The original series aired from 1993-99 in Japan.
Iron Chef Gauntletis being produced by Triage Entertainment in conjunction with Food Network and is based on the format Iron Chef owned by Fuji Television Network Inc.
