Iowa State gives Baker Mayfield a taste of his own medicine
Iowa State gave Oklahoma‘s Baker Mayfield a taste of his own medicine on Saturday.
The Cyclones marched into Norman and shocked Mayfield and the third-ranked Sooners, 38-31. And after the clock showed all zeroes, Iowa State safety Evrett Edwards planted the Iowa state flag at midfield, much like Mayfield did after Oklahoma knocked off Ohio State in Columbus last month.

As you can see, this was far more timid than what Mayfield did. Mayfield, who later apologized, ran all around Ohio Stadium before emphatically planting the OU flag into the turf at midfield.
In ISU’s case, a reporter said one of Evrett’s teammates “immediately yelled at him” and “apologized” to an Oklahoma player.

But Evrett wasn’t the only ISU player sticking it to Mayfield a bit. Before OU’s game against Baylor earlier this year, Mayfield was heard jawing at Baylor players and telling them, “You forgot who daddy is. I’m gonna have to spank you today.”
Well after Mayfield threw the incomplete pass that pretty much sealed the upset for Iowa State, a sideline mic caught an ISU player yelling “who’s your daddy?” at Oklahoma.

Hey, if you’re going to dish it out, you gotta take it, right?
“It’s expected. I’m sure I’ll get comments that Iowa State’s my dad or something like that. You expect it. It’s whatever. I’m not worried about what they’re doing. We got to go back to work,” Mayfield said after the game.

Mayfield threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 57 yards in another score, but couldn’t lead the Sooners down the field to tie the game late. OU took over down 38-31 with 2:19 to go, but mustered only 17 yards before turning it over on downs.
