Molly Phillips, Iowa PBS executive director and general manager, is retiring after more than 30 years with the broadcaster.

Phillips will step down by the end of the year, according to a news release. She has worked for the Johnston-based Iowa public TV network since 1990.

A graduate of Grand View University in Des Moines, she served in human resources, communications and community engagement roles before stepping up to the top position in 2013.

During Phillips' tenure Iowa PBS added the PBS KIDS channel, a YouTube channel and livestream and on-demand viewing options. Phillips also served on the board of trustees, and as chair, of the National Education Telecommunications Association.

"I am immensely proud of the statewide network and the stories we have shared with Iowans over the last 34 years,” Phillips said in the news release. “I will retire with confidence that the extraordinary team here at Iowa PBS is well positioned for the future, and will continue bringing compelling voices and programming to a devoted audience by telling Iowa’s stories like no one else can.”
