Interview: 2 Chainz Speaks On His Goals For CEO Millionaires Clothing Line

2 Chainz explains the origin of his CEO Millionaires line.

2 Chainz spent Memorial Day Weekend in Miami shaking the walls of clubs on South Beach, and pushing the TRU message of his new clothing line CEO Millionaires. Before he took over Story on South Beach with Lil Wayne, Tity Boi joined forces with Phil “The Mayor” Cardona and Norma Castro to host the grand opening of Appt Only located west of the heart of Wynwood.

The “Gotta Lotta” lyricist pulled up on the scene with his entourage and his French Bulldog Trappy, and grazed past the surprisingly, controlled line filled with fans and excited patrons. Since one must RSVP and make an appointment to shop (get it?), the compact store succeeded in controlling the crowd mixed with loyal fans and excited customers. Patrons got to shop for trendy apparel from up-and-coming designers as well as high-end brands like Bathing Ape, DIEM, and of course, CEO, which stands for “Creating Every Opportunity.”

“This is designed to really encourage the millennials, the young entrepreneurs, the boss of tomorrow, this is the uniform for some people,” 2 Chainz said to the media. “For some reason, people think that if you wear a suit then that means that you’re smart and educated. So this is our suit. This is the suit that I rock to let people know I don’t need have a tie on. I can wear what I want to wear to a meeting because it’s what I got up here that will depict what’s really going on.”

Trappy, who was there for emotional support, looked up to the 6’5” Street Exec chief as he explained that the success of the unforgettable Dabbin’ Santa sweaters inspired him to launch CEO. In an effort to stray away from the “cliché rapper’s clothing line,” Chainz, who was born Tauheed Epps, aims to stay in his own lane without being heavily influenced by other rapping, fashion moguls like Kanye West.

“[I] try to stay doing me,” 2 Chainz told VIBE exclusively. “Stay in my own box. That’s important for me to keep me involved. I love what Kanye is doing. I have all of his shoes, and a few other pieces I’m missing, but I’ve got I’ve got some Pablo stuff. So everybody knows he’s the top-tier when it comes to that fashion swag. That ain’t no question. But to me it’s important for me not to be like a cliché rapper would normally be you know just to put out something that’ll spark some conversation and ideas.”

Numerous special guests made their way down to the shop including Street Exec DJ E Sudd, DJ Smokey, D4L’s Fabo, and Miami DJ Stevie J, who served as the opening act before the ColleGrove duo hit the stage at Story.

“I didn’t it expect it to be this successful to be real with you,” said Stevie. “But I feel really great about the outcome and I’m happy to be a part of it. Whatever Phil The Mayor doing, I’ll support it.”
