'Interruptive' Bob Woodward booed during event with reporters who broke Weinstein story

Investigative journalist Bob Woodward was booed while asking questions during a D.C. event for New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, according to verified news reporters on Twitter who were at the event.

The event was focused on Twohey and Kantor's book, "She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement," which was released in September.

The book is an investigative look into the sexual harassment and sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein first reported by Twohey and Kantor in the New York Times.

In a blistering report published on Oct. 5, 2017, the Times detailed nearly 30 years of reports by women accusing the Oscar-winning movie producer of sexual harassment.

Several people took to Twitter to slam Woodward for his questions during the event, which took place at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue in Washington, D.C. Those at the event also said Woodward interrupted Twohey and Kantor repeatedly.

"Listening to (Kantor) and (Twohey) discuss their remarkable reporting, and Bob Woodward keeps cutting them off," Kira Lerner, a reporter for The Appeal, said on Twitter. "He's also repeatedly asking them why Weinstein did this, and the audience is protesting/yelling back/walking out."

Kara Swisher added, "Ouch (Woodward) is really blowing this interview with (Twohey) and (Kantor) on their book 'She Said.' Interruptive, not focused on the women who were victimized by Harvey Weinstein and weirdly obsessed with that creep, it’s a exercise in how not to interview. The crowd no like."

In a long thread detailing the night, Works in Progress founder Robyn Swirling said Woodward's questions were "aggressive and uninformed."

Audience members were "over" Woodward, CNN political commentator Hilary Rosen said on Twitter.

"We're just starting our book tour, and we're grateful to all the moderators – Bob Woodward, Katie Couric, America Ferrera and many others – who have agreed to join us onstage," Twohey and Kantor told USA TODAY in a statement. "We welcome all questions, from them and especially from the audience, because each one is an opportunity to relate the wrenching decisions that many of our sources had to make and grapple with #MeToo as an example and test of social change in our time."

USA TODAY has reached out to Woodward's representatives and The Washington Post, where Woodward is an associate editor.
