Highly anticipated modern workplace C-drama Our Interpreter has aired its first five episodes. The five episodes aired on January 8, 2024. The original broadcaster of the drama is Hunan TV. Our Interpreter will reportedly have a total of 36 episodes. The drama features prominent actors like Victoria Song and Chen Xingxu as the main leads. Our Interpreter revolves around ex-lovers Lin Xi (Victoria Song) and Xiao Yi Cheng (Chen Xingxu), who get to meet each other again eight years after their breakup.

Lin Xi is a successful interpreter, while Yi Cheng is the technology officer of a communications company. It is also quite evident that these two know each other. Episode 1 starts with Lin Xi attending a big party where many foreign guests of different nationalities are present. With her translation skills, she charms everyone. As the first episode progresses, we get to know that Lin Xi and Yi Cheng were once a happy couple. But their relationship had to end abruptly when Lin Xi dumped him. But the reason for her action is kept a secret. Lin Xi is an interpreter who takes her work very seriously and thinks that only a diligent translator can translate accurately. Yi Cheng’s company, on the other hand, has launched a machine translator that can deliver translations almost accurately. Lin Xi is hesitant about meeting him at first. When they first meet, Yi Cheng comes off as mean, but the viewers soon see his caring nature. The two ex-lovers also don’t refrain from engaging in a friendly banter. While Yi Cheng tries hard to hold up to his tough guy image, he simply does not have the heart to be mean to his ex-lover.

At the launch of his company’s translator, Yi Cheng challenges Lin to compete with the machine. Although she hesitates initially, she takes up the challenge and handles the situation very professionally. We can also see Lin Xi is ill and has to take medicine. At the team dinner, Yi Cheng learns about Lin’s discomfort. We get to see Yi Cheng’s soft side when he requests the hotel not to add chili to the soup. It is evident that he still cares for her but doesn’t want to show her any affection. He also wants to make her feel jealous and curious about him.

While the drama focuses on the love-hate relationship between the ex-lovers, some other storylines are also brewing on the side. We are also introduced to a number of side characters who will play important parts in the later parts of the drama. Through Lin and Xiao’s flashbacks, we get to know that they were once a happy couple and were quite literally smitten with each other. But Lin had broken up with him three years after dating because he was unsure about his career. When an acquaintance asks Lin about the real reason for their breakup, she avoids the question. The drama will explore Lin Xi and Yi Cheng’s relationship in depth, and the viewers will find out about the real reason for their separation.
