Why the internet doesn't believe Nikki Bella and John Cena's breakup was legit
The breakup and apparent reunion of John Cena and Nikki Bella has given some fans a case of whiplash, which has meant backlash for the famous WWE wrestlers.

In fact, so many people have questioned whether the relationship woes of Cena and Bella are real or just fake drama meant to drum up interest in the pair that Bella has felt the need to address it — more than once.
“Sometimes people don’t realize how you can affect them,” Bella told ET Canada earlier this month. “It’s kind of like when we try to talk to cyberbullies and tell them that you have no idea how you’re affecting people. I’m a human being that literally went through a breakup. Everyone’s been through a breakup, and think of how we feel. So mine has just been blown up, and people all of a sudden are saying that I’m faking it. You’re now saying that my heartache is fake, and that makes it even harder. It’s just like, what can I do right? That’s just really, really tough.”
Bella also responded to a follower’s take on her split on Twitter:
Actually it wasn’t. Stop believing everything on the internet. I just can’t with all of these fake articles and tweets. So unreal.

But why exactly are people suspicious of what’s happened between Bella and Cena?
A few reasons:
It involves pro-wrestling.
Both Cena and Bella have wrestled in WWE for more than a decade and are two of its biggest stars. The iconic wrestling organization is notoriously scripted. ‘Nuff said.
The timing seemed too convenient.
Bella and Cena called off their wedding in April, a month ahead of the season premiere of her reality show, Total Bellas, on May 20. The breakup gave people an added reason to tune in — if they hadn’t planned to do so already — because it focused on problems in their relationship. Ratings for the premiere marked a high for the series in key younger demographics, although it’s not clear what effect the breakup had on the ratings.
For his part, Cena stars in the new animated series Dallas & Robo, which he’s reminded his Twitter followers will debut on YouTube May 30. He still regularly appears on WWE Raw.
They got back together very quickly.
On April 15, Cena and Bella made the announcement that they’d split. By May 14, he had declared his love for her and his sadness about the way things ended on the Today show. Then the pair was spotted getting coffee together the same week. The next week, a source told People that they were “basically back together.”
“This was never really about ending their relationship — it was about calling off a wedding because something didn’t feel right,” the source told the magazine. “It was a wedding that was entered into under false pretenses. She was pretending she was OK with not having a kid, he was pretending he absolutely couldn’t and wouldn’t budge on that point.”
At one point, Bella suggested that anyone who wanted to know more about the status of her relationship with Cena should check out the new season of her show.
“A lot of people keep asking ‘why,’ and I think that’s what’s going to be really good about when Total Bellas comes out,” she told People. “Your ‘why’ is going to get answered. You’re going to see this journey of where John and I started to have those downs — and we had the ups, too, but what wedding planning did to me and everything I came face to face with.”
Then, two days later, she revealed that Cena had changed his mind about fatherhood, paving the way for a wedding after all. “I truly think that he wants to be a father,” Bella said. “I think John’s going to make an incredible dad. You see everything he does with [the charity] Make a Wish — that’s why I always knew! He’s meant to be a dad. I just need time, I need time to digest.”
