The internet blows up over Mark Hamill and Ted Cruz Twitter feud
One would assume that on the opening weekend of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the most iconic Jedi of them all would be busy with movie promotion. Not for Mark Hamill. Instead of using his Jedi powers to save the galaxy far, far away, Hamill used the Force to troll the FCC’s decision to repeal net neutrality.
Much like the rest of the internet, Hamill chose the head of the FCC, Ajit Pai, as his punching bag.
Cute video Ajit "Aren't I Precious?" Pai -but you are profoundly unworthy 2 wield a lightsaber-A Jedi acts selflessly for the common man-NOT lie 2 enrich giant corporations. Btw-did you pay John Williams his royalty? @AjitPaiFCCorpShill #AJediYouAreNOT pic.twitter.com/SpIcOEySUY

In a crazy twist of events, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, jumped into the conversation with more than a few Star Wars references. Fitting for the film’s opening weekend.
.@HammillHimself Luke, I know Hollywood can be confusing, but it was Vader who supported govt power over everything said & done on the Internet. That's why giant corps (Google, Facebook, Netflix) supported the FCC power grab of net neutrality. Reject the dark side: Free the net! https://t.co/nARkMvIEYk

Hamill, however, did not appreciate the references, nor Cruz’s spelling error. He responded with a few cheap shots at the senator.
Thanks for smarm-spaining it to me @tedcruz I know politics can be confusing, but you'd have more credibility if you spelled my name correctly. I mean IT'S RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU! Maybe you're just distracted from watching porn at the office again❤️-mh https://t.co/nHpJVG1Wpe

Cruz was smart enough to ignore the “porn” reference — although we would have loved to see a response — and instead tried to give the actor a lesson in net neutrality.
Yes, that's it. So sorry to misspell your name. Respond not with facts, but with anger. Who was it that said, "Fear is the path to the dark side…fear leads to anger…anger leads to hate"? (1/2) https://t.co/uwMMzgKC1R
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) December 17, 2017
(2/2) Rather than insults, try civil discussion of facts. Fact 1: until 2015, the FCC had NO authority over Internet. The Net grew free & unregulated. Fact 2: W/ "net neutrality" the FCC declared power to regulate everything said & done on Internet. That's really bad for freedom. https://t.co/uwMMzgKC1R

The responses to this unlikely internet feud were mostly in favor of Hamill, but one notable person enjoyed Cruz’s rebuttal.
Ted Cruz kills Luke Skywalker again… Jedi apparently no match for facts. https://t.co/p1hiAR1hLC

Hamill ended the back-and-forth with this:
#MayTheKGBWithYou, Fredo. @DonaldJTrumpJr ❤️- mh #tRUMPutin #RussiaGate https://t.co/TFsHFhVGHK

The internet was also abuzz with reactions to Fox’s A Christmas Story Live. Fans of the classic holiday film were delighted about the live-action retelling at first but were soon confused by the musical numbers.
Please stop with all this singing. I came here to see a live version of A Christmas Story. Not a musical. Please stop ruining a classic. #AChristmasStoryLive

Sat through 3 hrs of #AChristmasStoryLive. Now I wished I’d shot my eye out instead. And my other eye. And both ears for good measure.

Since A Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas movie, I decided to watch the live version that’s on right now on FOX. Biggest. Mistake. I’ve. Ever. Made. This is just horrible.

Well, then, why don’t you tell us how you really feel?
