Her parents Rick and Bev are superheroes. They would take battered women from their husbands and house them. Being private investigators, the parents used Miranda to assist in the investigations! The book called From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars by Virginia Hanlon Grohl recalls a story about one situation. Miranda had to dress in a cheerleading costume to sell candy for the school so that she could look for the incriminating evidence her parents needed.

Her mom said, "Miranda started off extremely shy. She wouldn't speak. Not a word at school. If she had to order her own food, she'd just not eat". Wow, she just needed someone to push her out!

Miranda was almost a pop star! The first demo she recorded was more pop than country. Pop didn’t resonate with her, so she looked for something with more of her speed. This turned her to the guitar. Her father bought her a guitar at 10. She did not want anything to do with it. How ironic! After being disappointed with the pop demos, she decided to pick up the guitar again. The rest is history.
