Instagram-famous Chip City to bring massive cookies to Montclair

Like, one that's Instagram famous, open until 10 p.m. and has more followers than Chips Ahoy.
That's right, foodies — Chip City is coming to Montclair. And it's bringing its massive, six-ounce dough mountains with it.
Opening a new Chip City location in North Jersey
Chip City is a NYC-founded dessert chain that's been serving the regions "ooiest and gooeist" cookies since 2017. Weighing more than most burger patties, the colossal treats feature crispy exteriors wrapped around soft, (almost) under-baked interiors. The flavors of those tasty mounds vary from week to week. Some exciting ones from the past include S'mores, Banana Pudding and Triple Chocolate.
Currently, Chip City has three New Jersey locations in Ridgewood, Hoboken and Newark. It's new Montclair location, which was confirmed by a social media post from Montclair Center BID, will be the fourth — and latest — iteration of the company in the Garden State.
"It’s #nationalchocolatechipcookie day!" BID wrote on Instagram last Friday. "What better way to celebrate than sharing our soon-to-be newest BID member Chip City."
The spot will be at 2 Church Street, with an opening date TBD.
'Jersey's best cookies' to arrive in Montclair
Last month, we asked our @northjerseyeats followers where to find the best cookies in Jersey. Chip City, to no surprise, ranked amongst the top five answers.
After reading our article on the results to our poll, the company sent us a box of six samples. We enjoyed flavors from "Cookies and Cream" to "Birthday Cake," with "Oatmeal Apple Pie" swooping in as our surprise favorite. All of the cookies were soft, indulgent and delicious — just as the franchise's social media promised.
We were super excited, then, when we walked out of dinner at pastaRAMEN the other night and saw Chip's adorable cookie logo hanging outside a nearby storefront.
Though we don't know when the shop will officially be open for business, his happy little face reassured us that the day would be coming soon.
