UPDATED: It was an unhappy Thanksgiving for many Facebook and Instagram users: The Facebook-owned apps both had widespread outages and access problems on Nov. 28.

Instagram, in a post on its Twitter account Thursday at 10:41 a.m. ET, acknowledged the issues. “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook’s family of apps, including Instagram,” the tweet said. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”

More than four hours later, Instagram tweeted, “Gobble gobble, we back. We apologize for the inconvenience and wish a #HappyThanksgiving to those who celebrate!”

User reports about trouble accessing Instagram and Facebook started to spike at around 9 a.m. ET Thursday, per DownDetector.

Among Facebook users, 66% said they were unable to log-in or otherwise access the service; 32% said they were having issues accessing their News Feed, according to DownDetector. About 70% of Instagram users reported problems accessing their feed.

Instagram, Facebook and Facebook-owned WhatsApp have each had significant outages in the past few months. In March, Facebook apologized for a technical error that left many users globally unable to access apps for Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp in a rolling outage that lasted around 24 hours.

Instagram also experienced hours-long service problems in June and July of this year.
